Liverpool in Work supported Controlled Event Solutions (CES) in recruiting sixty unemployed Merseyside residents to train in Event Stewarding whilst being assessed at the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament held during the summer in CalderstonesPark
How did it happen?
Controlled Event Solutions approached Liverpool in Work to recruit candidates for this unique training programme. The opportunity was advertised by Liverpool in Work and a series of information and recruitment sessions were held in the city. Candidates were inducted and began online training in NVQ 2 in Spectator Safety. The candidates’ skills were assessed in the glorious sunshine and surroundings at the Tennis Tournament which featured many high profile tennis players. Following successful completion of the course many of the candidates were interviewed by CES and secured casual event steward positions with the company at the Liverpool Echo Arena, Chester Races and other prestigious events.
To acknowledge the hard work and success of the candidates, an award ceremony was held recently at LiverpoolTown Hall where candidates were presented with their certificate in Spectator Safety by Councillor Nick Small, Cabinet Member for skills, enterprise and employment and Henry Kirkland MD of CES
What they say;
Councillor Nick Small said: “Not only was the Tennis Tournament a great sports success for the city but it has opened the way for unemployed people to obtain jobs. Through a partnership between ourselves, the tournament’s organisers and CES we have helped previously unemployed people get qualifications. This means they did not just find work for the duration of the tournament but have been able to work at other events. It shows the importance of helping people gain qualifications.”
Henry Kirkland of CES said, “It’s been a delight to work with Liverpool in Work and support local people gaining qualifications and employment opportunities in this vibrant city “
Damian Hall, Learning and Development Director from CES said, “Thanks very much for today and supporting CES and the clients throughout the whole project. I thought it went very well. I hope you were happy with everything and will look forward to providing more opportunities in the near future.
